Brassa, my order included 3 cool growing masdevallias. I'm in upstate NewYork and the temperatures here are brutal too. Mine shipped when temperatures here were 85-90 degrees all week. The orchids arrived looking a little wilted, but not bad. I soaked the roots and within 6 hours they all perked up. They're wonderful now and showing no ill effects from a hot journey. So, there is hope for yours! But I know, I agonized about the temps too.

My plants were supposed to come on Saturday.

As always, they have been delayed in the mail system which means I get them Monday at the earliest.

Dissatisfaction with the transit time of priority mail is not something I’m unfamiliar with.

I can relate. Sorry to hear it's taking so long.

Well, they just got to the White Plains distribution center. If all goes well they will be here in the morning and I’ll report on their condition.

That said, I’m very distrustful of this USPS center as they more often than not send packages further away by mistake.

This is a really tough time for us as mail order folks.

The already iffy delivery services are over burdened and they know they can use that to really not care at all

God speed to their safe arrival

Ordered four plants from Ecuagenera during their 20% off event. Packing slip was generated on Jul 6th. Shipped from FL on Jul 21st, didn't arrived until 10 days later. This is based on a two day priority mail. One Stanhopea has some sort of leaf rot. Two plants are in good condition, one I rated fair. The Lc. represent good value for $20. Don't know if the Oncidium is a good buy for $15.

The Stanhopea x Acineta with the yellowing new growth isn't rot... the new growth went without water and light too long, and is probably dying. Don't worry too much. Pot it up in something that retains a lot of water, and water a lot. The older growth should push more growths.

Thanks. I didn't show the really bad part. The photos are just to give a general idea of what to expect. I have cut out the yellow/soggy leaves. Done the bare root prep, and will pot with sphagnum in a basket tomorrow.

I have a masdevallia coming in the August 2 shipment. It's a no-charge replacement for a sick orchid that I received earlier in the summer.

Ecuagenera emailed me a couple of days ago to alert me to the long delays their customers are experiencing with the US postal service. They asked if I wished to upgrade shipping to Express Mail. Hmmm.....risk receiving a dead orchid because of heat and delays....or pay $30 for Express Mail for a single masdevallia. Call me a financial idiot, I opted for Express Mail.

My point in relating this is to say that Ecuagenera is now aware of our postal service plight and doing their best to deal with it. The additional cost sucks though.

Hi!
I wanted to add to this thread regarding Ecuagenera, but their US Ebay page. They have far less plants, but it was a good experience so far.

I placed an order for a Brasiliorchis Schunkeana on Monday (9/21), it was shipped the next day. It arrived today (9/25). The plant came potted, I gave it a drink with a drop of Kelpmax to help with any transport shock. I think it looks good! Even a tiny bloom!

I can't see any pests, but keeping it isolated for now. Medium looks a little broken down, but, of course, I ran out of potting medium so repotting will need to wait.

But yes! Thought I would include an experience with Ecuagenera's eBay page! I'll keep you updated if things go south for whatever reason.
