Hi Phaladdict,

I recently ordered from incredibleorchids on Ebay. It's really cold in NE this time of year

. I didn't want to wait till spring to get more orchids (I'm an orchidholic

) and figured that I'd try them as someone here on OB said they had just gotten some nice plants.

If they came frozen or blasted buds (I try to always get in spike or bloom...no patience

) then I would take the responsibility. After all it is winter. They do what they can but they can't control nature or shipping conditions.

Yeah...They arrived a little cold but fine. A bud on a Paph did blast but that was expected. The plant is in very good condition as are the others. One is now in bloom and the other has a very nice spike.

The forum here on vendors is very good and I made a list of vendors I will try. I'm bidding on some right now. But, as before, I am taking my chances and will rely on the recommendations of others here on who is a good vendor. It's still my responsibility if I order in winter.

As I said I'm addicted...what can I say

Yeah, I'm "nasty" Suzanne, because I disagree with you and disapprove of internet lynch mobs. This thread was nasty before I posted on it and you were part of the mob.

I usually get some orchids for Xmas presents in December. If they are from Andy's, they call and arrange a pick up at the Fedex office 20 minutes away to keep them warm. They also call afterwards to see how my plants are doing no matter what season. Impressive. They have told me that they never know whether the plants will be on the outsides of the platforms on the planes or in the middle where they will be insulated by other packages or what will the shipping conditions be after that. They worry as much as I do. One winter, I got some plants from SBOE and they arrived from CA without a heat pack that I requested and they looked quite frozen. I called immediately and they replaced them both, again without a heat pack (!!) but all 4 plants survived. (Maybe they had no heat packs??) I think orchids are a lot tougher than one thinks. I bet these phals will be fine. BTW, I ended up trading 2 of the double plants with people locally. This Xmas the post office called to have me pick up my ebay orchids so they would stay warm. I was thrilled because my PO usually does bad stuff. I try to slow down ordering in winter, but I still get some and it has always been okay in the long run. Of course, I wouldn't blame any seller when I order in winter since it's a chancy time. With ebay sellers, we usually arrange shipping during a week that's a bit warmer and I always buy a heat pack if it's not offered for free. I don't buy from people who I can't communicate with. So that's my winter experience. It's too hard to say who is to blame in your case. I would just cut off those spikes, repot, and hope for the best. And see how Norman's reacts in order to determine whether I want to buy from them again.

This thread was not a lynch mob...it was folks giving accounts of their personal experiences. Not "I heard this" or "somebody told me that".

You added nothing of any purpose to the thread except to stir up trouble, of course.
