Default Tom Orchids

Just new to growing paphiopedilum orchids and came across this site. I thought I was buying from Florida as their shipping fee was $10 for 7 to 10 days. Also they did not mention any need to get paperwork for these orchids, again making me think they were domestic. It was not till I was looking for their phone number that I found them located in Thailand. Looking up their positive feedback, I found none, but did find this site. Thanks for your post. I just contacted my bank to cancel the charges. Consider this a lesson learned. Will look up reviews prior to making my next online order

Hi. I am Greg. Tom Orchids is in the located in the same province that I live-- Chiang Mai Province. I also have been looking for another Thai seller. Tom Orchids looks great and they do have an excellent selection from what I can see.

I have sent a couple of chat messages for me and you, asking if they can ship internationally. Please wait a little before ordering until I receive a reply.

Hi Greg,
thanks for your input. Any luck contacting Tom orchid nursery? It has been more than 30 days now since I placed my order, and still no tracking information from them yet.

After placing a large order with Tom Orchid Nursery, no tracking number and no plants were ever received from them after more than 2 months.

I had a great response from the US customs people both Federally and state based when I asked questions about sending clivia seed to the US from Australia.
Previously Clivia seeds were able to be sent with no official certification as long as the name and Clivia species was recorded on the individual seed packages.
I was informed certificates were required to get the items into the country and a different certificate was required for the item to be accepted into the destination state.
So from my experience there are more hoops to jump through than appears at first, and from memory it wasn't a cheap exercise either.

I'm addressing this here as TOM Orchids appears to have input from quite a few newer members. Almost all very negative. Please note, new members, this excerpt from the Orchid Board's rules and guidelines:
Don’t Post Negative Feedback of Vendors (new members only)
Due to the seriousness and financial impact of negative posts, we only allow members with a minimum 100 posts and six months time as a member to post negative feedback of vendors.
It's okay as a new member to ask questions about any vendor. Even to ask questions like "I placed an order with X vendor a month ago and have heard nothing back. Has anyone else had this problem?" That line only gets crossed when the new member shares negative personal (or a friend's personal) information of their experience. We realize it can be a gray area, but that's the purpose of having moderators. Please do not take offense if you're a new person here and missed that in our rules.

One also might take note that if there aren't many or any positive reviews about a vendor to proceed with ordering at one's own risk. The very old phrase Caveat Emptor applies well in this regard.
