Default Norman’s (Again)

Norman’s lingo: “premium” = salvageable.

And then there’s also this nearly dead dendrobium I received today. I sent the below picture and the reply I got was:

“If you would like to return the plant, it has to be shipped with a 2nd-day shipping method to our greenhouse: 11039 Monte Vista Avenue, Montclair, CA 91763. Once the plant arrives we are going to make the refund of the total amount of the returned plant(s) to your credit card on file.”

Hmmm…I wonder how much 2nd day shipping is on a $25 dendrobium?

They are rip off artists. I got taken for $700. I have taken every opportunity over the last 2.5 years to tell everyone I can how terrible the people that run this company are. Come join me in spamming their facebook page, over time it does make one feel better about the situation. I think I will head there now and call them out some more.

They're really sensitive to criticism as well. They were going on and on in their FB group about how "blue" one of their Cattleya was, and when I pointed out that it was actually purple they got SERIOUSLY bent out of shape.

Please feel free to vindicate me while there by sharing my sad tale and even sadder photo. You should mention that you pulled it from the orchid board so they know their dirty deeds are spreading far and wide. I’m not on Facebook or I’d do it myself.

If you are unhappy, you could contact your credit card company and see if there might be a case for them to dispute the payment. Get the pictures of the promised plant and description from the website for proof of what you should have gotten (just in case they take it down).

Many times, orchids are salvageable but an online vendor should advertise the plants honestly. Nearly all of my first orchids were in terrible shape (bought from a florist who put them in potting soil after she cut the flowers and then left them in an unheated greenhouse for the winter) but I knew what I was buying. You did not.

Was that Den. aggregatum seriously 25$...? I'd be hesitant to give that away for free to my friends - I'd be embarrassed.

Unless that's some hard-to-find or award winning cultivar, that's pretty sad. Did they even acknowledge your disappointment about that status of your dendrobium?

Thanks for the warning...

RJ'S Orchid Wisdom #321

When orchid people look at ugly orchids all day long, they dont see ugly anymore.

They see potential bec the plant aint dead yet

I bought a few things from them when I was new to orchids. I had all kinds of problems with them. I stopped buying from them. There are actually a few vendors who have proven themselves to be useless. Once someone pulls something on me, I am out of there, and that goes for any business.
