Default Orchid Trail closed (retirement) :(

Sorry if this has already been posted, I just found out that Orchid Trail in North Carolina closed at the end of August.

So very sad...I had been sitting on an order, doing my usual "let's see if I still want this a week from now, and then another week from now" self-check. Theirs was one of the greenhouses I had planned to visit during future hoped-for travels. I have several wonderful orchids from the Orchid Trail and really enjoyed their vast selection. Happy retirement and thanks for all the orchids!

I am sorry to hear. I remember when Oak Hill Gardens closed. I had made a list of orchids I planned to buy and was just trying to decide between two when I got an email that they were done. I still miss that place. The Oak Hill Gardens in Ill. had really great Angraecums.
Sadly, many great Orchid places have been closing.

Sorry to hear that it's the end of the road for Orchid Trail.

Actually ------ not all bad for the owners, that have very likely worked incredibly hard. They'll get some nice time off!!!!!

I love the name .... Orchid Trail. Excellent name.

You won't be forgotten Orchid Trail!

I believe Orchid Trails sold their remaining stock to a new owner, so there might be a new business in its place, I hope, since they had quite a collection there.

I've only ordered from them once. I'd say the experience is generally positive, but I have reservations. I have to say that the Encyclia osmantha tested positive for ORSV, which I returned for a refund. I messaged them 2 weeks later under a different email to find that they've sold it -- the only one he had from his private collection -- to another unwitting buyer. Understandable, since they're going out of business and need to get rid of stock, but I wouldn't be so thrilled if I was that buyer.

So if you're out there (dude who bought an Encyclia osmantha from Orchid Trails), beware!
