Default Orchid Trail

I've been sitting on this review for quite some time, debating whether or not to post it and how to put it. I made an order from Orchid Trail about a year and a half ago. I ordered two plants, Cattleya schroederae and a Gongora portentosa. When I received the order the Gongora looked good, but the new growth on the Cattleya had broken off in shipping. When I notified them I was given the option of returning the plant for a refund, with no other consideration. It was an otherwise healthy and beautiful plant, and I really didn't want to be bothered with packing it up and sending it back, so I decided to just keep it. This did work out well, as the plant soon developed 2 new growths, both of which bloomed. The Gongora grew very well, and in due time bloomed. However it was not a portentosa but rather a scaphephorus. This was before Ecuagenera listed portentosa on their new price list, and portentosa were scarce as hen's teeth in the US, and commanded a rather high price, which I paid. When I contacted Orchid Trail about the situation, I was given the same option, to ship the plant back for a refund. I didn't have another scaphephorus, and it is a very lovely plant in its own right, so I asked if I could get a credit for the difference in price on another order, which I felt was about $25 given the respective market values of the plants at the time. This was rejected. I can't say anything bad about the plants, but due to their handling of their mistakes I will not be ordering from them in the future.
