08-31-2008 17:37
I can take one if you are still looking for homes. I'm new at this though, so if you know that there is one particular orchid that is easier to care for than some others, that one might be the one for me. thanks!

If you ever need help again, 09-08-2008 00:03
I'd be more than happy to help out (if you ever need help again!) if the orchid would do well in basic catt conditions. I'm in PA too, so I don't think the shipping would be that high - and I wouldn't mind paying it anyway : )
Good luck on your mission!

I hope your rescue mission is working out. I remember going to a bus ramble in Homestead and seeing dumpsters full of perfectly good orchids. At one nursery I inquired about some P. pulchra species...she ended up filling 4 big garbage bags with all types of Phal species she was going to toss! Luckily, I found "homes" for all of them. Good Luck!

in australia, they never let people take the orchids after they're done flowering, they either throw them in the tip (no access :P) automatically or, more regularly, send them back to Spring Valley, the company that supplies cut flowers and orchids to almost all large corporations

It is so nice to see all of you wanting to care for this beautiful plants. I have rescued a few already. I found a couple at garden center that were on there way out. I paid $5 for Brassavola Jimminey Cricket that has a spike = ) now only 1 month of bring it home. I was in Home Depot in Kelowna BC.Canada and not sure of names but the ones that hang with their roots showing. There must of been 20 of them on their last legs. I wanted so bad to take them all home but couldn't. I know thier fate will be garbage = ( And I see so many out of flower and throw out.
What a waste!
Going back to this place maybe get lucky and rescue a couple
