Default Vanda roxburghii (tesselata)

Ok, so I finally got the pics of my enormous Vanda roxburghii, and here they are...

This species is from India, and is used for many "medicinal" cures... it is a beautiful species, and one of my favorite Vandaceous orchids...

This plant is approximately 8 feet tall. The plant itself starts at about 1 foot off the ground. I am 6'1", so that gives you a rough perspective on how large this plant is. The roots, if they were not to be tied into a ball, would hang about 5 extra feet, but because I cannot get it on a high enough branch, the roots are tied.

Ok, enough said, any questions about this species, I think we know who to talk to...

Here are the flowers and plant:

(This one is a biggie, sorry... =( ) - Not to worry...I resized it

Thanks all!

Sue, no, unfortunately never been to CBGB... they went out of buisness just recently... =(

I posted this quite late las night, and I now see they resized themselves... the pics aren't that great (especially that fuzzy pic of the flower close-up), but the pic of me and the Vanda doesn't show clearly how large the main plant is (like I thought it did)... the main plant is straight up, while the offshoots on the plant are hanging on the sides... the actual plant was cut off, because it was too tall to photograph clearly...

So that's my story, and I'm sticking to it... =)

Man that thing is HUGE! Its neat how it appears to float in mid-air... those conditions must be ideal for vandas; too bad its far too dark and snowy here in PA for them to grow that well! Excellent! bravo!

That plant's huge. How long did it take to reach that height?

Looks great, though! I wish the pic of the blooms was a little clearer.

Hi P. A.,

It sounds like like you grew it outside. How long did it take you to get it that big? One more thing how were you able to get it to bloom this time of year outside is it not too cool for it?…I can see by your pic that the jungle in the back yard is growing great… Sorry so many nosey questions… just enquiring minds need to know..
