Angraecum diderii, Looking for info on them *MINI*

I've got an Angraecum diderii on a stick. I keep it humid around 65-75%, but not wet, with bright flourescent lighting (though nothing compared to sunlight). I mist it ever other day. The roots are silvery white, hope thats normal. It seems to be growing a new leaf, gotta wait and see if it gets bigger.
Ok, Its only got 6 leaves. The plants itself is only about 3" from base to tip of tallest leaf. Is it still to small to flower?? If not, when will it flower. Am I keeping it in the right conditions? Temps flirt with 80 in the day and only drops 3-5 degrees at night.

Silvery white, warty roots are common on Angcm. didieri. My plant is in a 4" pot with lava rock - drenched every 4 - 5 days, daily misting. It gets bright, dappled light, temps around 75-80 daytime, 65-70 at night, humidity 85%, and good air movement. There's a photo of it in the CNEOS gallery. There are several keikis, largest about 5" tall; all keikis had flowers and buds. Good luck.

Thanks. As an update, the new leaf has grown to full size, but is vertical in orientation as opposed to all the others who are at 45 degree angles.
The roots are growing by branching out. Two new root tips have shown up in the last 2 weeks. Im glad I haven't killed it.

Nice looking didieri - how long have you had the plant? Didieri is quite a bloomer once established.
I have some orchids on sticks - aerides punctata, sarcoglyphis comberi, aerides racemiformis - they tend to dry out very quickly so they are kept near the fogger.

Hi Tin... I purchased an Angraecum didieri (small plant) at the Conference and decided to try Semi-Hydroponic Culture. So here goes...I will probably kill it almost immediately or it will struggle and not grow.
What would I do if it loved the culture and grew and flowered it's little old head off?

Hi Tin,

I have Angraecum didieri and elephantinum and I love these plants. Both of them are plaqued since I live down here in Florida and both grow great. Both of these have the same type of looking roots with the silver rough looking roots. I keep mine in the vanda room underneath the main plants and I have gotten the dideri to bloom once. The plant doesn't have to be large to get a bloom...mine only had 4 leaves and it bloomed. If you want more information on Angraecums..try this link:

Hi,
I have acquired 2 of them and in researching them I'm getting conflicting advice. Some sourced say they like shade and others say 2-3" from the lights.
How would they do in a terrarium ?

None of the angraecoids that we grow receives direct light. Most are in medium-low light (underneath sun-loving vanda that provide shade). I have no experience with terrarium growing, so can't advise here.

What are the two plants you got? And how large are they?
