My Haraella *MINI* - Orchid Board

Here it is...I fear they had this thing way too dry, and now I'm a little worried about it. The two biggest buds in the picture are blasted and fell off this morning. I know there's a lot of haraella growers on the board, any suggestions?

IME, they do like to be kept moist. Mine seems to enjoy terrarium life.

Looks like I nice size plant ya have there, Scott.

Mine is mounted...and in bloom with more spikes/buds coming!

Ditto Tindo, an easy grower and makes its owner happy with continuous blooms, looks happy

you guys really think it looks happy? all the wrinkles in the leaves had me worried that it was a bit dry...

The leaves have some wrinkles going on which most likely is caused from dehydration and as for the blast, acclimation would be my bet which can really happen to any orchid if they arrive in bloom and not to mention conditions prior to your purchase. I do see what looks like healthy roots, the plant overall appears strong without wilt/droop, in my book makes a plant appear happy especially if the plant is new and has not made any well-defying changes since purchase/arrival to it's new home. I would keep an eye on the rooting system well under the mix if the wrinkles worsen, than it would most likely be root rot. I personally take it as a challenge when a chid arrives with a hiccup or two. Maybe someone on the OB can give some impute on your Haraella being raised in an orchid mix. They do make awesome mounts

so here's the update...

I pulled that haraella out of the mix to check it, and it had very few roots, and the ones it had were pretty poor quality. since I already had it out, I mounted it on a stick (secured with surgical sutures--why not?). I then put the whole thing under a clear plastic cup. About a week later, I was rewarded with the bloom pictured here.

I complained to the vendor, and they promptly replaced it with a new one, which has an excellent root system, and just bloomed yesterday.

so now I have two haraellas. it looks like they may alternate between which one is blooming, as the first one has a bud developing presently. I removed the humidity dome last night because the original one now looks pretty well hydrated, and I wanted to get some better air flow around it. the second one is doing great in fine bark mix for now, although I haven't decided if I want to mount it at a later date. of course, the thought of semi-hydro did cross my mind--anyone with any experience with this plant in s/h?

I ordered one from a vendor and when it got here the flower bud looked suspect. I cut it off and so far the plant is still slowly growing (stick mounted). I purchased a second one and it was three times the size and doing great (also stick mounted). Both of mine are watered by soaking daily and misting several times a day. Not sure I would put these in a pot since they appear like they were meant for a mount.

I thought about whether it would survive in S/H, but it would need finer(smaller sized) primeagra, and definetly a smaller pot. But I don't see why it wouldn't work. I wouldn't do it as I never want to see this plant pot bound. They just don't match in my opinion.
