Default dissapointed orchid from norman orchids

I got this guy from them and it is pretty beat up. I don't think there is one leaf that does not have a crack or a missing part. the small roots are all brown and rotting because they were kept too wet. it was in the typical basket with course bark in there. the small dangly roots were pretty much all brown and soft. it was in a pretty open plastic pot that the basket sat in.
I emailed them with pics and no answer I just called and all I get is you can return the plant and thats it. well that and thats how vanda's look.

I have not ordered from them, but there are many others on Orchidboard that have had similar experiences with them. Sorry it happened to you!

Not a brilliant plant, but definitely not a goner. I see a lot of healthy leaf tissue, and there appear to be healthy roots too. How is the growing point? It will look ugly for a while, but I would keep it. I think you were correct to notify the seller though, and unless specified it has damage I think you should be due some compensation.

my first order was fine but not this guy. I know it will recover it is not too bad. but it will take a long while to grow enough roots to recover and bloom. thats all I wanted some compensation after spending 40.00
Now it is sitting on a vase with live moss to keep its roots out of any puddles. it has not started growing yet but I have only had it a week or so.

yes i agree. but I wonder why it has all those bad leaves you saw the brown spot wonder if the others had that? and why all the spit leaves?
now it gets a 20 to 30 minute morning soak then I drain the vase. it gets misted twice a day too.

I am sorry to hear that you had a disappointing order. I have had a couple.

The Vanda should be fine. If you want to help things along a bit, you could buy some seaweed solution for plants and add it to your water. That really helped my formerly rootless Angraecum sesquipedale get a quick start on roots.

I've had problems with Norman's too. They'd have to have something really special for me to order from them again.

There's too many fantastic vendors out there to deal with sub par ones.
