Default Asctm ampullaceum

First bloom and I'm not proud. I've had this some years now and it's not pretty. It isn't hard per se...I guess I mishandled it alot.

Now that it has bloomed at least one, I think you can expect more flowers during next flowering season.

These aren't the first spikes but are the first blooms. Multiple spikes aborted before these two stumpy spikes. The spike tips don't look good, not expecting more this season.

I don't know that I'm doing anything wrong at this point. I dealt with mites on this plant but that was a while ago. The roots have always been pathetic. I've moved it from place to place trying to make it happy. Sometimes you get the runt of the flask.

I have a lot of vandaceous plants (think Neos), an Asctm miniatum/garayi (I suppose someone would know the difference but I don't really care), two Mona Churches, various Angraecoids and...the list goes on and on...that are doing good to great. I see no indication of water issues on this plant.

I've never heard this species being problematic so I think it's just a runt.

I have had a few, also, that don't seem to be happy with whatever I do.

I just read someone else's culture and I might have kept it too cool at intermediate.

Oh, keep forgetting mine is 'Orange' (on the tag) instead of the regular dark pink.

It could be thrips. You described several aborted spike and the one that bloomed look mottled and has what appears to be pest damage to stem and flower.
