Default Easter Vanda

Came down to St.James City to visit family for the holiday weekend and to my surprise my aunts Vanda orchid is in bloom! I have a division of this guy on my tree but I've yet to see it bloom because the damn squirrels keep eating my flower buds! But anyways... isn't it beautiful!

Beautiful!

Do the terete vandas really root into the soil, the way some people say they do, or do the roots just grow on top of it?

Actually, this looks like a semi-terete, if I'm not mistaken. but close enough. Here is a pure terete leaved plant that I found on the web for comparison. Yes, the terete leaved sorts are known as Papilionanthe.

papilionanthe - Bing images

I would like to know the name of this variety, if vvesto can tell us. It is very beautiful either way!

The ruffly edges on the petals add a little extra something, don't they!
