Default Spike question

all, Back in April I bought 6 seedling on eBay and received a free Vanda 'pine river pink'. When it arrived it had a dead spike. Today I noticed that it looks like a new spike is coming out in the same place. Do they normally come from the same spot or higher up? I know the plant doesn't look that healthy but it is a lot better looking then when it came here. I got it from Bill_asia as most of you are familiar.

Hi Dave

In my experience, the new spikes usually come out from between a set of leaves one or two rungs above the last one...I've never had one come out from the same location

I am sorry to hear of your misfortune, Charm. That particular seller tends to sell bare rooted plants that are dried. (which he states in his auctions). Some plants do recover with an orchid IV, a lot of TLC and an orchid

Nice recovery, Dave

Hi Dave,
I'm certainly no expert but that looks like a spike to me.
My Bill_Asia Vanda is still alive after 7 months but that's all I have to say for it. Last week I went the glass vase route with it. It can't look any worse than when it arrived! Anxious to see if your's flowers.
Al
