Vanda Pachara Delight 'Pachara'
Got this from Carmela's last year in a 3 1/2" pot. I didn't expect it to bloom this years but was thrilled when I saw the spike. This is my favorite flower ever. I was a little disappointed when they first opened. They were small and very purple instead of the blue/black I have seen. The flowers have grown so they are decent size now. The color is richer but still on the purple side. Does anyone know why it doesn't have the blueish color?

Nice little plant!........ in reality there aren't too many truly 'blue' orchids, not the dyed ones anyway, but they do exist. Having said that i can only think of one, but im sure there's others. Differing shades of purple are usually the closest thing you'll co6ne across though.

Beautiful! Pachara Delight is my favorite vanda because that color isn't often seen in orchids. For some strange reason, digital photographs always make Pachara's color look more blue than it really is. I've tried to capture the true color on photos and I just can't do it. Never-the-less I think that the true color of Pachara is stunning even if it's not the color you see in pictures. The phenomenon of expanding flowers is something I noticed a few years ago. After a vanda flower opens, it continues to expand in size for almost two weeks.

Mine have also come out small this time around. I think it is due to low moisture, low humidity, low light, low temperatures, or a combination of the above. Mine have been subjected to all of these

Here's another picture over a month after it opened. It's darker and the flowers have reached full size. I think this photo represents the real color better.
