Question about Vandas in vases Male
Default Question about Vandas in vases

I have 2 Vandas I received last fall. I'm growing them in vases currently. For those growing them in vases do you put yours outside in FULL Sun? If so don't the roots get cooked or do you put them in bright shade? I want to know before it's time to move them outside!

Thanks in advanced for any tips/replies!

Tom

vandas usually thrive in early morning sun to bright light. I have mine in direct sunlight from sunrise to 1 pm.. They seem to be doing fine. It should work for the ones in vases and baskets. I have mine in plastic pots with no medium.

Thanks for replying. I will hang them during the growing season where I hang my Den. Chrysotoxum. It gets early to late morning Sun then bright shade the rest of the day.

New York in the summer is warm and very humid especially by the Hudson river....the Vandas love it if you hang it under a tree....if it is a Mokara or a certain equatorial specie then you can gradually give it direct sunlight....if there is a coerulea or a blue strain in the Vanda hybrid parent then you need cooler culture and no direct sun.
I use the vase culture in winter when it is very dry inside my apartment.
Sometimes we get heat waves and that's when you water it twice a day.
