Beautiful!! I've been wanting to get a Sarcochilus for years, but they are tough to find in Europe. Though I'm lucky and my favorite local grower now has Sarcochilus Fitzhart . I guess that as a primary hybrid it shouldn't be too fussy. Do you know much about how it is to grow it, in comparison to the parent species?

I have hartmannii too and have good vegetative growth, but no blooms yet. Mine is mounted on cork. I'm cool enough right now and ma trying to keep it a little drier for the winter months (just misting, no dunking) as per its native rain pattern. I'll let you know how it goes.

According to OrchidWiz typical flowering is in the northern hemisphere is early spring and I have no indication of spikes yet, so I'm not too hopeful for this year.

Fitzhart is quite tolerant easier to flower and grow than hartmannii being half fitzgeraldii The hybrid also exists naturally in a few areas it has been found where the two species grow side by side. It should grow as easy as fitzgeraldii. Hartmannii grows well if you have the right climate it just hates it in the subtropical lowlands. In its natural habitat is lives in open rocky areas as high altitude with plenty of air movement and fresh cool mountain air and clouds at night. A bit hard to recreate here with our heat and humidity in summer. The fitzgeraldii proves much better to adapt to heat and lack of fresh mountain air if given a nice shady cool place.

It can be like that this species. I try to give it shade here and keep it cool. The result is nice leafs but no flowers. So sometimes I try and give it more sun (which is needs to flower well) as it naturally lives in more sunny areas but then it suffers from our lowland heat and looks sad. If you can provide lots of air movement and a cool environment as well as a fair amount of sun it should flower good.

Great, thanks for the info! I'll add Fitzhart to my basket for my next order! I'll be ordering after the holidays. I'll be gone 2 weeks, and anyway with all the christmas deliveries packages tend to get a bit delayed at this time of year.
