Thank You Vanda Lover !

You may bring your Vandas in baskets outdoors under a shady tree(you still have 3 months of warmth), but water it in the morning before you go to work and early afternoon as the light fades....
in winter lesser water maybe once a day(or if the roots turns light color)
*your vase culture must be always indoors and water every other day and soak it for 5 minutes before you remove the water...
they like to feed and drink a lot....weekly weakly fertilizer

note: Vandas dont like cold(if outdoors the hose water temp is the same as the air=let the water from the hose run a couple of minutes on the grass)....indoor water must be room temps or tepid water from the sink

Wow! They're fabulous Bud!
And you're brave! My vandas are still hanging ang getting watered 3x/day. A few are blooming but I've killed a few maybe because of my overhead sprinklers. Maybe it doesn't like getting its crown or leaves wet.
Growing on a glass with only the roots getting wet seems like a great idea... I'll try that on some of my baby vandas. Thanks for showing some proof that it works! :)

Am I the only one that thinks they look like they have moustaches in the third pic? Maybe it's just my screen colours. :)

Good growing Bud (as always)! The colouring on these are lovely. I wish I had bright enough conditions for vandas.

Thank You, samnkyle !

You can drench the whole plant and it would love you....but air circulation is needed if you water it 3x a day....just give it warmth, bright light, feed it and water it....the baby seedlings would love being in vase culture because the humidity is higher in that environment....

samnkyle 08-02-2012 02:29 PM

I'll give it a try... I'll post pictures of the baby vandas as they grow. :)

Thank You, Natalie!

The lip of the flowers looked like mustash in that angle....I wanted to present it with a fuller and flatter flowers
* you can grow Vandas in your environment....maybe invest is supplemental lighting , humidifier, heater and electric fans....
I try to mimic the environmment for Vandas in my apartment: it is a constant summer in my place even if outside it is below zero with snowstorms....

That's a really nice flower, I grow most of my Vanda's in glass vases too. I've found this to be the best method for me.

Thank You, Myles !

Can you explain further how you do your vase culture including fertilizer?
