Default Best place to purchase reasonably priced vanda

Hello everyone and happy weekend to you all!

I would like to purchase a vanda, but am unsure where to start. I am still somewhat new to orchids and have never owned a vanda before. I want to purchase a plant to just see if I can grow it in my location. I really don't want to take a risk on a $60 plant until I am pretty sure I won't kill it, but I also don't want to buy a plant in poor health from a bad vendor that is doomed to die regardless.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start?
Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi Ami...

you can't go wrong with R.F. Orchids for a vanda:
RF Orchids

I wish Martin Motes had a web site because he would be another I'd suggest.

Before you start spending on vandas, keep in mind they need LOTS of attention. At least daily drenching (heavy misting) of the roots and lots of sun.

On the days that I really don't feel like doing anything, I can let the ones in pots go but the vandas insist that I give them the attention that they want.

If you have any questions, let me know.
Vandas are probably close to what I'd call my favorites...if I could pick a favorite, that is

Thanks!
Should I choose hybrids, species, or mericlones? Any suggestions for something easier than another?
I saw that website and was in awe-it is quite famous! (to us at least)

Ah!!! A tougher question!
Choose one that you love...that's all that counts

A little treat for you...here are a few pictures I took while I was touring R.F last year. Bob Fuchs is a great guy and his property is awe-inspiring! I tell everybody that if they ever have the opportunity to take the tour at RF, it shouldn't be missed. It's an experience I will never forget...

Pictures like that make me want to brave the critters you guys were talking about and move to FL! That was even more beautiful than I had imagined.
What an inspiration!

Hey Pinkcat...if you haven't purchased a vanda yet, you may want to try ebay. I just purchased my first vanda on ebay for $4.50 and if it doesn't work out, I am not out a whole lotta money. The orchid is from someone in FL where all he does is sell and grow orchids. I haven't got the plant yet, otherwise I would post a pic, but if there's anything wrong with the plant I will be sure to post...and of course if its great I will post that 2!!!!!

Thanks everyone for the help,
Candice- let me know how that turns out for you. If you have a good ebay seller and don't mind, let me know the user name so I can watch for some yummy plants...
