Thanks Tracy. I already asked Satomi for a list of the plants she has for sale, and she's supposed to get back to me sometime this week. hopefully she has one of those. Sedireas are some of my favorite plants. There's also a couple of neo varieties I'm looking for.

Kip, I got Minmarushima from Satomi (Seed Engei).

Math, I do believe they need the cool winter temps to bloom better. If you can get your winter nights down to low 60s - mid 50's, I think that's good enough.

Bec, I thought you said your Seigyokumaru had very dark green leaves?
Tracy, I have a Nagoran and a Daruma Minamru. The Nagoran has the lightest colored leaves and the Daruma Minamru has darker leaves, but not as dark as yours! I've cut back on the fertilizer with the Daruma Minamru and am maintaining with the Nagoran to see which will bloom first. The Daruma Minamru doesn't get as strong light, but I think it may still be to much. I'll just have to enjoy your flowers this year, I don't think I'm going be seeing blooms on mine this year.

Sorry to hear that, Akiko. I think Satomi has plenty more of these. Not to worry, there are othe vendors in the US who have that yellow flowering Sedirea.

I can't believe that I missed this thread Tracy! Your Sedireas look superbly well grown and well potted. I especially love 'Minmarushima', the variegated leaves are stunning! My Daruma Minmaru is still hanging on to life. It's not dead , but not showing signs of recovery. I'll keep it, but I think I'm going to need a second one!

This must've been the one you had the mealy bug problem with? Ugh, I hate pests. Perhaps Shannan can check with Glenn to see if he got any new variegated Sedireas in. I have a feeling he didn't get a chance to bring back as much this time because his visit to Japan this year was cut short due to an emergency.

Yep, that's the one. The mealies have spread to all the other orchids, and nothing seems to stop them. The best I can do is get them under control for a few weeks at a time. Minmaru is in ICU in a soda bottle to stop the leaves from wrinkling any more. No sign of new roots or leaves. I would like to get the standard form first, before killing any of Glenn's pricey little unusual ones! Anyways he doesn't seem to have any sedierea available on his website.

Those are beautiful plants. May I ask you to provide some of the culture information you use to grow your plants, please? Do you keep your sedireas uniformly moist, or are they allowed to dry out some? Thank you, and congratulations on your fantastic collection.

Hi Steve, I never let the Sedireas dry out completley. They get more water during Spring and Summer and less water in the cold months when growth really slows down. I grow them cool - intermediate during the growing season. Winter temps are mid 50's to low 60s during the night and no higher than about 72F during the winter days. I also have these under my T5's.
