My Haraella's not feeling good - Orchid Board

I noticed a change over this past weekend, no changes have been made other than a nice full soaking in weak fert, which is my norm once a month. In the last 3 days I have had 3 bloom blast and one of the stems have died back (which might be the norm as it is the adult stem from 4 previous blooms). Photo's are a bit to be desired, I just can't seem to pass this photography 101 class...

Are you misting it daily, besides the soaking once a month? I have mine set up in a light area without direct sun and it gets misted daily, spray-fed once a week. It won't stop blooming!!!

I mist it daily, in the a.m. and it's hangin' on the rack in an east/north lighting. Mine as well was blooming away, than this burping started. I am a lost for what to do? Maybe I should go back to my misting twice a day, before and after work (which I have not done in 2 months) and see what happens. Such a process of elimination.

You can obviously see I am not getting any housework done today, gosh I love this board. Will have to explain to the family how I hung out with my orchid buddies all day...lol.

FWIW, Andy is a bit optimistic on how dry this guy can be! And light as well! Mine are soaked (dipped, actually) in fertilizer water every day and sprayed many times a day (I'd say 3-5 times a day). I also have been using KLN daily to encourage additional rooting. The humidity for my growing area averages about 40% right now, which is quite low, but they are doing well despite this. If any of this makes sense and helps, great

Oh! and my light tends to be very bright (I'd say more than 2500 FC.)

Ross, very encouraging, will pick up the watering regimen, hard when you, well I hate to say this as your not sure what it is, WORK but would be a great site me walking in with my chid and water bottle in tow. Should be able to up the moisture, humidity is no huge problem this time of year hangs around 70%, light the candlelight confuses me but it gets bright sun hangin' by the window. Oh btw what's FWIW Andy????

Oh, you said you dip yours daily in weak fert. what type of mounting material is yours mounted on?

I agree, water more. I keep mine as humid as I can. This past weekend, I forgot to mist the orchidarium on Sat, so it went without misting till Monday morn. As a result my Haraella lost its bloom prematurely. Never even had a chance to put on an odor.

Anyway, humidity is key. I've heard its been pretty dry in Florida as of late?

Cheryl! Andy is Andy's Orchids - http://www.andysorchids.com/ He has great plants, etc and culture instructions for the plants he sells. Mine are mounted on sticks (I have two plants). I just dip/soak the whole thing in a 5-gal bucket and hang it back up. I spray them several times a day. They do well in orchidariums as well.

Oh, and they really don't like full sun - more like Phalenopsis.

Mine is mounted on one of the bird suet feeders the feeder is stuffed with Spag. plant mounted on the face of it .
Watered almost daily depending on how warm it is , the Spag. holds moisture .
Phal. light it has been that way for 3 or 4 years , I unsnap the feeder and replace the Spag. once a year . Gin
