Vandas with their Keikis
This topic might have been discussed before.
What makes Vandas to grow Keikis?  Are they happy? Is the mother plant not doing well so it creates its offsprings?
I ended up cutting the top portion off due to the poor condition. This plant is now showing 5 Keikis. My two other Vandas also started showing a keiki although the monther plants are doing VERY WELL.
Since I am new to Vandas, can anybody tell me the answer? |

The keikis are still tiny. I am surprised that one plant puts out so many keikis.
This is the V. Pachara Delight. Sorry for the quality of the pictures. The 5th one is only about 1/8".

At first, I thought so, too. Especially the first picture. Then the tip of them started showing the leaves... Darn!
Oh, well. I at least have a healthy Vanda.

Hey Naoki,
Your plants look healthy to me...and keiki production in vandas is quite common. Some plants will produce many and some very few if any...it depends on their genetic lineup.
If you cut or accidentally break the crown off of one, you will typically get keikis formed, provided the plant has healthy roots and enough green leaves to nourish it. This is why you've got so many on teh damaged plant...give it a year to a few years, and it will give you a fantastic display!  |

One possible answer to the keiki is that your temps are to high at night. Phals will produce keikis when the night time temp stays to high.
