OK SO I DID NOT GET THE FIRST TANK THAT I THOUGHT I WAS GETTING BUT I DID END UP GETTING ANOTHER TANK THAT IS LARGER AND FOR A GHOOOD DEAL AS WELL THE GUY IS SO NICE. I AM SO THANKFUL TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR INPUT AND GOOD IDEAS. I AM GOING TO USE THEM ALL. I WILL BE READY FOR DEFLASKING NEXT WEEK I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED. I WAS WONDERING WHAT YOU GUYS THOUGHT ABOUT OTHER PLANTS ORCHIDS AND WATER PLANTS IN THE TANK IT WILL BE 250 GALLONS. I JUST DON'T WANT TO MESS ANYTHING UP I JUST WANT TO MAKE A PERFECT LITTLE WORLD FOR THEM. AND I THOUGHT A FEW MORE PLANTS WOULD BE NICE AND ALSO A WATER FALL IN THE MIDDLE TO KEEP THE WATER MOVING AROUND SO THERE IS NO STAGNET WATER. PLEASE TELL ME YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE MATTER I WOULD LOVE AND TAKE ALL ADVISE VERY SERIOUSLY. THANK YOU SO MUCH DAWN AKA PIXIEDUST239.

Wow 250 gallons, thats big. Great Idea with the waterfall or fountain. As far as other plants go, there are many to choose from. most of the native Florida orchids will do well in there. I'm sure there others here that could help with different plants.

Ghost orchids sound and look very magical...I would imagine that they would be difficult to grow in Vermont..obviously not outdoors...would it require a lot of equipment to grow indoors? I am such a newbie with orchids in general..but anyone can dream... Also does one purchase a Ghost online? Just curious...thanks for your help..Eileen

I have mine in a small terrarium. Moss, charcoal and water in the bottom, The plant is mounted on a stick suspended over the moss. It's covered- NO fans!! I have a wide spectrum compact fluorescent desk lamp next to it.

That sounds "easy" enough...would you say that a newbie could venture to Ghost culture..and why are they called Ghosts anyway...recommend any online sites to purchase? Thanks...I think I want to take step one....and move right on up to step 10....or so!...Eileen

They need to be taken out and soaked for a few minutes at least once a day. They're called ghost orchids because they are only roots- no leaves. When they bloom, the blossoms hang in the air off of the trees like ghosts! Look at flhiker's avatar!

The last place I have seen the Ghost orchid is Oak hill. the reason it is called a Ghost is it appear to float in the air because the plant is leafless. It has also been called the leaping frog or frog orchid. Yes you can grow this. These plants like little to no air movement around 60 to 70% constant humidity. And fertilize regularly

Thank you Scruffy....that sounds incredible...I've only seen the one pic here that flhiker has on his profile...so ethereal!...Do you have any pics? I will have to investigate the "care and feeding" of Ghosts!...What do you "soak" them in? Water?
