My Vanda needs more water? Male
Default

I'm just checking in to say that watering 3 times a week has sorted my Vanda out. As you can see the leafs almost look and feel completely smooth right now, without wrinkles.

I found some white fur was on a couple of roots, so I immediately took it out (removed the basket since I was at it) and cut those off. I can still see a few roots which becomes brown instead of green when I water the plant, as in the attached photos. Shall I remove everything that doesn't become green?

I also manufactured a rubbery hanger with a metal wire core to straighten the plant out that just hands to the side of the vase.

Thanks again for your help

Congratulations on the rescue!

Don't be in a hurry to cut roots. Even if they are past their prime, they can still help hydrate the plant, even if not as efficiently as the better ones. A thirsty plant like this needs all the roots that it can manage. Ones like the second-to-last photo could be trimmed (depending on how many good ones you have) Even that one would also be OK to leave. Since the roots aren't in media where pathogens on the surface could get a foothold you're likely not harming anything by leaving it.
