Default Neofinetia Kibana furan

I have been absent lately, busy with other plants outside in the gardens and potted plants on our deck. Time has been short to spend with my orchids and several are flowering now, yay!

I’ve not added anything new until this week when I purchased a beautiful Kibana from Satomi. I’ve wanted a Kibana for some time, Al has a huge one and I’m always tempted.

This plant arrived yesterday evening in perfect condition and is a small plant with four fans. While admiring it this morning I’ve noticed two spikes just peeking out! Oh how lucky, I cannot wait until the yellow flowers show their gorgeous faces!

Here she is and I’ll post a couple of pictures of the tiny spikes.

Great new neo update when it blooms. Patty I have a question on ordering from Seed Engei? I am on the mailing list, but do you just email them the neo that you want? Is the price done back with a email if the neo is available?

Great, healthy looking plant. I hate to say this, and I hope I am wrong, but those look like new growths and not spikes. Only time will tell.

BJ thank you! I certainly hope these are spikes and I will be watching closely. Will definitely post pictures. If you are on Satomi’s mailing list you will need/want another terrarium soon. Also you will no doubt find that special Senzai! There were two nice ones on her last list.

Satomi will send you an email monthly or by monthly with a link to her pictures of the plants for the current month. The same pictures as she has on FB. Within that same email there will be a link to the list of plants. They are numbered, named and price shown. It can be awkward to flip between the photos and the price list and these plants go super fast. Not every plant listed is shown in a photo...if you would like Satomi to send you a photo, email her, let her know the plant with it’s assigned number is one you want to purchase and would like a photo, she will email it to you. As soon as you decide on a plant, or plants, email her as these are first come first serve. If you are wanting to purchase multiple plants let her know you are still looking at others.

My saving grace is I am mostly buying bean leaf plants otherwise I would be in deep dodo! Satomi has wonderful plants and I hope to meet her one day, she is very sweet. Hope I’ve answered your questions

Thank you Shoreguy, it is very healthy looking.

Oooh, I hope you’re wrong as well! They are awfully small yet so I still have hope. Honestly I will be happy with two new fans though yellow flowers are scarce within my Neos.

That in itself is funny as so many of my other miniature orchids flower yellow.

I will post pictures as these develope. I needed a little excitement!

BJ, It will be helpful in your search that you know what you are looking for. If Senzai is the plant you want definitely search the list first. I was too slow in my searching for Senzai and missed purchasing one three times. She does not always have them. I had looked for a long time and only Satomi had them so I waited each month for the new listing and finally was able to purchase a gorgeous clump. It is such a cute Neo, you will love it.

When the list comes out and I see all the photos my head spins! I’m learning restraint. Obviously the new Kibana was too hard to pass up. It was an eBay listing. I’m weak.

I was scrolling through the Neo forum this morning and found this thread. Nice Kibana Patty! I'm sometimes happy to not have someone like Satomi here, or else I'd also be in deep trouble!

So what's the update on those growths? Are they still looking like spikes, or are they looking more and more like growths?

My new Kibana had what looked to be 2 spikes, but it turns out they are growths. Busy little plant, it has 5 new growths!
