If you have been following Patty's last Neo thread, you already know that I have found a dealer (um, vendor) in Europe to feed my growing Neofinetia addiction. Buying Neos in Europe is difficult and there's usually not much variety available. So I couldn't believe my luck when I found a guy who imports all sorts of Neos from Japan and South Korea, who is in the Netherlands, and even better, is only a 20 minute drive from where I work (that sounds dangerous for my wallet!).
I somehow managed to chose what I wanted in his huge list, and somehow ended up with 4 plants instead of the 2 I had intended. So please meet Shutenno (pink flowers), Tamakongo (bean leaf), Higashidemiyako (variegated) and Kishu-Ryokofu (green flowers). I finally got them on Friday, and since 3 were bareroot, I spent my morning potting them up.
This is Higashidemiyako, which I read means 'east side of Kyoto'. I chose it because I was in Kyoto last month, so I though it was perfect. And I wanted a variegated plant!
Next is a cute little bean leaf, Tamakongo. I had a hard time chosing which bean leaf to get buy, but since one seems quite popular and easy to grow/bloom, and the plants for sale were a nice size, I got one.
Kishu-Ryokofu is the largest of the 4, with 4 fans. I'm looking forward to the green flowers!
And finally; a classic Neo in many collections; Shutenno. I've been wanting one for ages, so I'm quite happy now.
And after potting them up, I rearranged the orchids on my shelves so that I could have these on the same shelf as my other 3 Neos. I'm starting to have a nice Neo collection! I also solved the problem of the plants being easy to knock over, by putting a bunch of rocks in the pots. Now they're quite heavy so I hope to not knock them over as often.
