Beautiful photographs! Thanks for sharing (and keep them coming if you got more, please).

Edit: Bare-root mount and seedpods in the nature! Can't get any better than this!!

Those are the only Neo/plant photos I took, but I took about 1500 in 5 days, which after sorting and processing still leaves me with about 700 keeper shots... I can post a very small selection here or link to my photo website.

Patty, I haven't contacted the Neo grower yet about a visit, he's away on a buying trip somewhere and I've been busy at work. I'd have to leave work early to go there, other wise I'll be stuck in rush hour traffic, and instead of a 80 minute commute it takes almost double that.

Oooh Camille how awesome! Your pictures are beautiful, the plants look amazing and the natural looking mounts and pots! I can imagine taking hundreds of pictures. Wow, thank you for sharing with us. Post all you want, definitely.

The plants shown in the moss are very interesting as well.

A buying trip? Now that sounds like a very promising experience for you when you have a chance to visit him.

Camille, I just looked at your thread of your Yoroidoushi when you received it. I had completely forgotten it was this thread that made me decide to look for this plant!

Your plant is beautiful and maybe taller than mine. How is it doing now? If I’m not mistaken, and I could be, Yoroidoushi is said to be a fast grower? I enjoy the needle leaf Neos, Fukujumaru is another I really love and it’s much smaller than Yoroidoushi.

This is the link to my website: shutterbug.ponzio.net
It's still work in progress as I'm still working on the site design and haven't uploaded many photos yet (other than Japan albums and a few other albums. Most of my orchid photos are still missing).

Here are some of my favorite photos. I have zero regrets that I was lugging my heavy camera bag around the entire time, having my DSLR and good lenses was worth it!

Camille the pictures are gorgeous! You are very good at photography. I remember the days of camera bags and lenses quite well though I shot film and loved black & white. I have an old Canon AE1 program and that thing went everywhere with me.

The second picture is amazing, I’ve got to check out your website! Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the compliment. I actually got into photography thanks to my orchids (one expensive hobby spawned another, even more expensive hobby...) and it's something I really enjoy. I do mostly landscapes, nature (flowers/mushrooms) and a bit of macro photography.

I heard back from the Neo grower. He doesn't actually have much of a nursery or grow many plants. He imports Neos (something linked to a nursery in Bulgaria it seems) and then sells them on Facebook. Seems more like a hobby than his main business. Anyway, he sent me his list and I'm drooling... Most are 1-3 growth plants I think, but there's lots of good stuff in there (neos and some Sedirea japonica based on the names I recognize.) My dilemma: Which do I buy???!? I want them all! Anything you highly recommend in this list?

I will definitely get a bean leaf, and I'm eying the Homeiden (variegated with ruby root tips). And Kishu Ryokufu, Higashidemiyako, Kinyugo, Jitsugekko and Kinyugo.... But I want to limit myself to 3 or 4 max. Choosing is impossible!

Edit: I NEED a Tamakango!

Camille, your photography is beautiful. One of my sons is very much into photography and he is very good. I use my phone for the most part and have a macro lens I like pretty well.

Your Neofinetia seller has a nice selection and great prices. I assume the price shown is per plant not per fan?

I have a Tamakongo and I really like it. My plant came from Orchids Limited and has 6 or 7 fans, a nice small clump. It’s been easy, though I don’t find any of these, so far, to be difficult.

I prefer the bean leaf plants. I love the Kuroshinju, it is so tiny! I would like to have the Kirinmaru. I have Hisui and it looks more grass like in it’s growth it is not a bean leaf, it has green flowers! I also have Suikaden and it is a nice bean leaf. Yodo no matsu is a great plant as well, not as small as some, I do believe it is considered a bean leaf. I have this as well. I’m kind of going by your list and the plants I own.

Plants that I do not own but would like to have are: Krinmaru (already mentioned), Homeiden as it has tiger variegation on the new growth, at the crown. I do not know for sure if the variegation stays with the leaf or fades with age? Manjushage, definitely as the flowers are amazing! With three spurs! The price here looks low in my opinion, might want to ask if the plant has flowered for him. I want a Shunkyuden for the odd flower! I notice there is no price shown for this one. I like the Gojo Fukurin, it has beautiful variegated stripes. In my opinion the variegation is nicer than on the Fugaku. I have Fugaku, it’s nice but Gojo Fukurin is different and more of a clean, clear stripe. I’ve been tempted several times to grab a Kibana for the yellow flowers.

Several of the listed plants I would need to google, sorry I’m not more help. I wish Matt would pop in with his head full of Neo facts! I agree with you, I want them all! I hope you are able to see the plants before you purchase them. These prices look very good to me.

I have a small three fan Ryokuho and it is a great little bean leaf, I had missed it in your list. I am dying for a large plant that Al has, he wants 165.00 for the plant and I may cave...I’m weak. His plant is a gorgeous big clump with many many fans. With all the Neos he has, not many are bean leaf, sadly.
