Glad to share what information I have on taking care and growing Furan. When you repot your plant, soak the plant, pot and all, for about 15 minutes and then very gently wiggle the moss ball from the pot. The good thing about re-potting plants at this time of year is if you do break the roots, the plant will replace the broken roots. At other times of the year when the roots are not as pliable, re-potting would set the plant back. Hence the recommendation of doing this activity at this time of year.

Thanks Matt. Hopefully I won't break any roots, might be a tall order though. I may need larger pots, these are the largest of the two sizes I have. There are roots growing up inside of the bottom hole.

The plants needing remounting are Oonami seikai and Shutennou. Here are a couple of pictures for your enjoyment.

Assuming all of the roots should be inside of the moss ball. The Shutennou is crazy with roots!

Great roots! Yes, if you have the patience, I would definitely repot these and tuck then into root ball. As to getting pots, the next size up from 3" is to get 4" pots. Since you do eBay, there is an eBay vendor, out of Japan, that sells ten 4" pots for $25

Awesome! I've looked for 4" pots, guess I'll go to eBay because I'm going to need them eventually. Not sure the Shutennou is going back into the 3" one. I hate to go to a regular clay pot, just not the same feeling. I could make a pot, I've made a couple and enjoyed doing it. The Oonami seikai is in a 2 1/2" pot and it might fit back inside. This will be fun, always up for a challenge and according to my family, I've got loads of patience.

Glad you like the roots too, my family thinks I'm weird because I like orchid roots. I tell them, they are the life of the party. They just think I'm the crazy old orchid lady, but I don't mind. I could be collecting cats!

Thanks Matt!

Wow, Pattywack, those roots are goooorgeous! Good luck with your repot challenges. I just ordered some pots from (most likely) the aforementioned eBay vendor; they arrived pretty quickly.

Twinofmunin I'll probably have to order some pots too. A shame Al doesn't sell them, need to ask him about this. The vendors I know of that do have these black pots just don't have the 4" ones.

I've a lot of nice roots to deal with, not sure there are any inside the moss ball though. Al pots these using a net pot inside, they've done very well. He babies these Neos a lot. I wonder if he has any new ones? I had asked him about him getting more and he acted as if he was not going to. I may need to run down to Leasburg soon, lol.
