Default Vandastylis (Neostylis) Pinky 'Starry Night' in bloom

Vanda (Neofinetia) falcata X Rhynchostylis gigantea

I got this in 2012, and while it's bloomed in the intervening years, it aborts spikes, or last year had some other problem with the spikes (crippled and sappy, no sign of pests) - in 2014 it bloomed properly on two spikes, tho a later started spike aborted. Last year, due to it's need for a larger container (now in a 6" basket, up from a 3" pot), it became an outside plant. So far it seems to be quite happy with the changes; it started 2 spikes late last year, and both are now blooming with nice clusters of bright pink spotted blooms! Previous time blooming, I only noticed a faint scent - this year, after there were many flowers open, I have been able to smell the wonderful Neo fragrance from a few feet away.

It's proven to be quite temperature tolerant. Growing in a wood vanda basket, coconut husk chips mix. Gets some direct sun in the afternoon.

Thanks for looking
