I know from whence Satomi comes but who is Jason, is he with Orchid Web? I wonder if Dr Glenn has this chart? I'll email him and ask.

Jayfar, someone actually sold a 2010 Fuukiran Meikan on eBay? I thought theses charts were free? But like Neofinetias, unless you have someone giving these plants away, anything Neo related must have a price!

I think I need to learn to read Japanese.

The time we have spent today on this thread and others have been really educational. I think this is the reason why I am so attracted to this orchid. It has history. It has specific and not so specific styles. It is valued not only for the flowers but for the leaves, the scent, the roots and even the pot and the growing media it is in. You can spend a lot of money to acquire one plant or very little money to acquire two or three! You cannot walk into a home improvement store, or a grocery store and buy one. Here in the USA there are three or four vendors that offer these plants, so you can either win a bid, or wait a week to order one online. They seem to be an easy orchid to grow. It's going on two months since i acquired my first one and I have yet to kill it!

Such a wonderful plant!

I have seen the 2012 one that Satomi had at one of the show displays, but I can't read kanji so it was useless to me.

Well said my fellow fuukiran junkie It's fun seeing how excited you guys are about buying and learning about fuukiran. Reminds me of how gung ho I, gmdiaz and shakkai were about buying and learning about these plants back in the day when we asked Marty to let us have a Neofinetia forum. I was revisiting those old threads today and boy do I miss those gals! Oh the nostalgia...

Hello LinhT, I have spent time going through old threads on this forum and I saw threads you posted in the past. I wish some of those folks were still here to provide the kind of information you continue to provide today. But I suppose that is the cycle of orchid collecting. People come and go but the challenge of acquiring these plants remains. I think I saw a couple of threads with Dr Glenn Lehr posting on this board a long time ago.

I emailed Dr. Glenn Lehr about acquiring the most recent available Meikan chart and he replied that he can get one. so when it arrives, I'll scan it and post it on this board. I'm also going to talk to a friend of mine who speaks and reads Japanese and ask her to translate the chart for me. Stay tuned!

I got my two Neofinetia plants and a very nice folder that contained two Meikan charts from two different years. One chart is very large and is printed on very nice vellum paper. Another chart is smaller and produced on magazine paper. I also received in the same folder translations of the Kanji into Romanji of the plants listed in the Meikan BUT not translations on the ranks of these orchids, but I can extrapolate from the earlier post, the column headings and their meaning. I'm going to Kinkos later today and get these into PDF files so I can post them here for you all to see.

Now that I have these Meikan, each original is worth framing and hanging on a wall. They are very decorative.
