This is interesting, NewWorldOrcids has a Neofinetia falcata: Surusume with 2 seed pods. I think this is a "first". Plus the starting bid starts at US$25.00.

Interesting! Apparently the pollen parent or parents is unknown.

They also relisted the Kyokushou with 5 spikes that didn't get a bid last week. Note that their auctions are for mid-day (three for Fri, plus for Wednesday a flowering Kujakumaru).

In other news, bill_joyce6ymz relisted 2 that didn't go in the last auction for Saturday evening.

Also, orchids_limited added a bunch more 'buy it nows' yesterday.

I really wish they would adjust their auction end to the evening. I do not have the ability to watch auctions during the day--unless I put myself on an "appointment" which will be hard to do as this is the start of the last quarter of the year--too much going on for me to rationalize being unavailable so I can bid on a plant! Although I thought about it, LOL

Someone snagged the preggers Surusume for 26, but I don't know who (wasn't me nor Matt). Anyone here?

I was a little surprised that the Kyokushou with 5 spikes didn't get a bid again (nor did the flowering Gojyu). I'd have been tempted if I hadn't already bought the 2 spike Kyokushou (one bloom of which is beginning to open today).

I'm tempted to throw some equestris pollen on my Kyokushou to make what used to be called Phalanetia Irene (RHS helpfully, or not, has this already changed to Vandaenopsis Irene). I have a white equestris with a faintly lavender lip, currently with one bloom and a couple more buds to go; I got it long ago from Norman's labeled as var. ilocos, but it doesn't look anything like his ilocos. It looks like it could be what he lists as Phal. equestris var. coerulea 'Blue Wan Chiao' SM/TOGA'.

This plant has none (or maybe the ebay photo is too blurry?). Just looks like a regular semi bean leaf to me. It was probably a seed grown plant that did not come out true. Hopefully, who ever won that plant was aware of this.

Time for me to ask you another newbie question Tracy. So...if a Neo has poor verigation when you purchase it iwill never improve ......not ever with good culture?

I think it depends on what type of variegation it is. I'm not sure about sumi types, but I have a Karanishiki whose new growths grow out normal. The tiger striping develops a bit later.

Nope it was not me, as Jayfar had indicated. I was in an end of quarter meeting reviewing last quarter results for my project...totally boring work stuff. I was disappointed I did not even get a chance to bid. If I didn't need this job to fund my Neofinetia lifestyle....

Actually the texture of the ebay plant is very hard to distinguish, *except* in the magnified view of the fourth ebay picture. There texture appears particularly pronounced toward the base of the leaves and below the tsume, although I don't see any sumi markings (assuming that's the term for irregular dark markings?).
