Very nice! I am thinking of taking pictures of my neo collection this weekend but somehow my orchid pictures always come out crappy. What did you use to get this nice black background? Love your pictures

Thank yo!! Do post picture of yours!! I use a dark velvet for my background, and set m ylighting in a way that it drops off before hitting the velvet.

Thank you for the tip! I tried to use my black fridge as background- horrible idea, flash reflection is really bad. And then I had some cloth material but it looked cheese and wrinkly on a picture. Velvet sounds fancy

Velvet tends to absorb the light and doesn't reflect too much, so if you get a dark color, and set your lighting in a way that it drops off before hitting your background, you're golden. Try moving your subject farther away from the backdrop

Also, using direct flash will rarely yield a good photo...bouncing it off the wall or ceiling etc will improve the look a to.

+1

I bounce a speedlight off a white ceiling, I have the seedlight pointed straight up and then a slight angle away from the subject.

Thanks!!!!!

You need to host them external, I use Flickr. And then embed them in the post using [IMG][/IMG] but with flickr you just copy and past the BBC code.
