I got this from Japanese orchids, or seed-Engei as its known on the www. I bought it via eBay along with a sederia, however, they got shipped without a heat pack and while the neo seems fine, the sedirea leaves are mushy the eBay seller contacted me before I got the package and warned the heating pack may not have been included in the box and offered to back the plants, which is of course awesome. I already emailed her about the sedirea so hopefully a replacement will be on its way soon.
Anyway, this seikai is only one fan but it has another growing in now. It's roots are great! I've already mounted it on a moss ball, and its in its pot already. I have to admit, I've fallen for Japanese orchids.
Some say epiphytic orchids are parasite, for living on trees.. However, I say that orchids are parasites for luring us humans to take them into our homes to feed and care for them. Much more care than they would get in the wild....
Wow, that custom-made bottle is ADORABLE! I died when I saw the door and hinges. Big thumbs up to you, sir.
Your newly acquired Sekai is also a very nice fan. The leaves look nice and uniform. Great purchase!
Well thanks I appreciate the compliment. It was really easy so if you want I can post a tutorial. You do need the ability to cut the glass though such as a dremel tool.
Thanks! Yeah it's definitely a good one. I wish I could get these at a more reasonable price than her website but even with eBay sometimes you end up spending as much if not more than if you were to buy direct from the sellers website!
What isn't to like about them? Small, nicely shaped, easy to grow, and fragrant!
No kidding! Lol I am still having a hard time shaping the moss ball, though. I need to specifically buy long strand moss because the kind you get at a US store can be any condition, long of short but usually short!
It'll be a while until this one blooms but I'm loving it already.
Quay, I got it at a local nursery in Colorado. They have thee now and then and I'm always drawn to this color. I've had many other plants in this pot and they never did well but I think I expected too much of the pot since its small and shallow. I think this time it's perfectly suited for the type of plant. If I ever see these pots again ill grab a few. They're only about $3.

Ya you should do a tutorial I want to know how to make those cute little bottles
