I've had this nearly four years - but the first year and a half I had it, I over-watered. So, two and a half years ago, it was in very poor shape. It actually had two fans - "self-divided" due to my improper care - only a few leaves, with the most recent being stunted; one stunted root. Amazing it survived at all

Both fans responded quickly and very well to better care, tho the other hasn't spiked yet.

Growing now in a small clay pot, styro packing pnut in the center, sphag tucked around that. Definitely needs a bigger pot. This is now growing in a south facing window, but spent the summer outside, getting light all morning.

Blooms are a bit over one inch in height - very big for the size of the plant.

There's also a second spike coming along

I think I see the second spike in the second picture?
I had ocean spray, basically the same flower with different shape.
love the color and their fragrance!

I dumpt it out last year as the root was drying out too much and I didn't know how to deal with it.

Well, I wish I had kept it.
I now have a pink version which is in low spike. It's been slow, so not sure if the spike growing very slowly on these plants are normal or my spike is dying.

That's an orchid that teases everyone, but after a few years and once they get going, will bloom regularly on larger spikes. I love my 'Bluebirds'. It's growing in a 4" basket for 6 years and has really long roots, some 3-4 feet long. Unless your culture is warm and moist enough to keep roots growing all winter, I'd wait until spring to repot it.
