Default Neostylis Lou Sneary 'Sky King'

I just got this plant last night at my local garden center. Every now and then they have something good in the orchid world. I have a Sneary 'bluebird' and have heard of other varieties but never this one.

This Neostylis is significantly larger than its sister varieties. I'd say it is twice as large if not more! I can tell the plant has spiked several themes before and the dried stubs of old spike look quite large, too. It's roots are enormous. Really everything is just much bigger only I have no idea what the flower will look like. Any ideas? Considering these plants all have a classic neo look with some sort of bluish color I'm assuming it'll be similar but I wonder if the flowers will be much larger like the plant seems to be.

I should also mention, it clearly fans out, or keikis, readily like a regular neo!

Anyway, here's the pic. I guess the name 'Sky King' is fitting. Now that I grow inside a tent and have light and humidity figured out, even for higher light plants, I plant on making a twig basket like ones I've seen made on here out of local material. I want to see a mass of roots hanging down!

Oh, wow~ it is much bigger! and look how healthy the whole thing looks from fat roots to green leaves to tons of babies!

never heard of this either, but Sky King sounds like it will be something very nice blue and beautiful!

Do post pictures when this thing blooms.

I'm the first on the waiting list if you ever want to spread it around in the future.

Looks amazingly healthy. Be sure to post pictures when it blooms From the on-line descriptions I found, it is fragrant!

I found a photo at Lan Neostylis / Lou Snearly and another at M

Note that this is for Lou Snearly Sky King.Is it possible that is the correct name for what you bought?)

Thanks for the links! I found a terrible pic yesterday but you never know if the pic is of the plant or not straight from google.

Neil et al, I shall share the wealth when the time comes! Clearly, it enjoys reproducing (no off color joke here) and I always hope to be able to share my plants with people here.

Last night when I got it home I tossed it into a bucket of water to soak for an hour. When I brought it out you could hardly tell the difference between the leaves and the roots as everything was beautiful and green.

I find it easy to grow and bloom 'Bluebird' and it too has keikis, but that is a natural thing for neos isn't it?

Wow, what a great find!! Wish there was a garden center around here like that, best I can do is HD and Lowe's.
That will be fantastic looking when in bloom. Make sure to post a pic when it does!!

If that picture is correct, the blue color is amazing!!!

I have neostylis "Starry Night" that is growing either a first spike or a keiki. My first time growing (ok, my second) neo. It is mounted. the whole thing is tiny.
If you like it, we can swap, Ryan.

Or I'll send a bunch of tolumnias your way. hehehe

I love trades! Starry night looks very interesting. I suspect it is a neo crossed with a spotted variety of 'stylis I've seen now and then.

I love that these guys retain they'd scents though none of mine are overly scented. Usually just get a light fragrance at a short period of the day.

I love my neostylis bluebird but have to admit I'm looking fwd to something a bit different.

Oh and Neil I'm trying something new out with a spare tolumnia I have that self divided from a larger group. Ill post pics of it once I'm done but hope you guys will like it!
