Default Neofinetia richardsiana

I've had this plant for a few years now. It seems to grow well with the traditional sphag mound method. It blooms in late March / early April. It readily develops a reddish pigment on the leaves when grown in strong light.
The first pic shows the buds from this year. The pigmentation of the upper leaves disappeared very quicky during flowering. Unfortunately I was moving house at the time and didn't take a photo, but I have substituted a photo of last year's flowers.
The pollen caps seem to dislodge very easily on my plant and it is prone to self-fertilising. Eleven flowers this year produced 8 pods. I cut five of these off and will let the remaining 3 mature. Camille, email me if you want one of these sent to you.

Cheers,
Tim

Very cool. I wonder how often they self-fertilize in the wild. Has yours done it every time it blooms?

That is such a beautiful plant!! I'll email you about it, I'm still interested in a pod!

Nenella, if my flasking attempt is a success I can give you some seedlings. If you don't mind the long wait!

Wow, that's stunning!
Congrats on the pods. You need to flood the market with richardsiana, they are way to hard to find!!!
