Default I got my new Neofinetia falcata orchids...Can you help me?

Hi -
I'm looking for replies so hope all of you will help me with my question(s).

I have (7) new Neofinetia falcata orchids...some in Spaghnum, some in coir, one is mounted. Some of them have one (1) growth, others up to (3) growths.

Will the Neos with One growth bloom ? Or does this plant require multiple growths before blooming?

I'm growing them all on my windowsills with a SE/SW exposure. I also have a Neostylis in spike and a new Darwinara just starting to spike.

I'm hoping some of these Neos will bloom this Summer.
Let me know your thoughts....

Thanks.

- Patrick

I have a Neofinetia falcata growing in a mixture of coarse bark and Spanish moss, in a shallow, slatted pot. The plant has two growths and both growths are flowering at the moment (it is summer here). This is the first time the plant has flowered. One of the growths only has one flower on it. The other one has three. The flowers are so beautiful, even though they are small. They also have a lovely jasmine like fragrance that is strongest at night. I have mine growing on a (shaded) north facing window in the kitchen. It seems to like the humidity from the kitchen sink! Because it is in such a shallow pot in fast draining media, I water it every day. I fertilise it every ten days or so.

It depends on the health and energy stores of the individual plant. Some of my single fan plants bloomed after I got them and some did not.

Certain growers like Glenn at New World Orchids will try and select plants in bud if you order in the spring or summer.

Cheers.
Jim
