Looking to buy my first Neofinetia. Can you help? Male
Question Looking to buy my first Neofinetia. Can you help?

Hi -

I am going to venture out and purchase my first Neofinetia falcata and perhaps Neostylis. Most (or many) of my orchids are Mounted, and I see that most of the Neofinetia are potted in spaghnum moss. Since there are so many types of Neofinetia, can anyone recommend a good one for a beginner like me ? Thanks

Two good starters are the generic Neo. falcata and the 'Amani Island'. They were my starters and I'm quite pleased with them. Both are inexpensive and are reliable performers. 'Amani Island' gets a bit larger and seems more forgiving to me.

Glenn at New World Orchids always has both and is a great person to do business with. Give him a call and he can help you choose beginners and others as you get more comfortable with them.

New World Orchids

Cheers.
Jim

Denman- You don't have to pot them in spag, you can mount them like the rest of your orchids if you feel more comfortable (none of mine are in spag.)

I haven't found that any species are easier or harder, just some grow faster or slower??? What qualities are you looking for?
