I think they have a better chance of blooming if the winter night temps can get down to 50's. Although some varieties seem to bloom without as much effort as long as it gets enough light. Basically, lots of light along with high temps = keep it more on the wet side. Less light with lower temps = keep it on the dry side. In the winter, you can let it completely dry out before watering again but just water lightly. In the summer, you can drench the mound when temps are higher and light is brighter. Probably should wait till the outside of the mound is dry and the pot feels lighter. If you grow it in moss, it will not need a crapload of fertilizer.

You'll love the fragrance when it blooms and you'll do just fine, with your years of bonsai experience. I have faith in you.
