Kuro Shinjyu, Kinkujaku & Shachikouryu

Neofinetia falcata 'Kuro Shinjyu' is an ultra mini bean leaf variety. The flowers are barely half the size of the regular size neo flowers.


'Kinkujaku' is a tiger variegated bean leaf variety. Roots emerge bright pinkish red and fade to a lighter color.


'Shachikouryu' is a contorted leaf variety. Leaves are twisted and flowers can be random. Sometimes, normal flowers bloom. Other times, they can be irregular shaped, like in this case. Not pretty, just weird. I love weird.

I thought the flower of 'Tamakongo' was small. I wonder how much smaller it is.......

Tracy, they both are so pretty and awesome. I like the Kuroshinjyu with tiny and a little pinkish flowers. You are really an expert of neo. Thanks for sharing the pictures and information.

Naoki, they are probably 2/3 the size of Tamakongo's flowers.

Swamper, all mine are grown indoors under T5's so I have better control over growing conditions. I put a few of them on the windowsill in the summer. They can tolerrate a range of temps but optimal conditions seem to be cool - intermediate temps and medium - medium high light, depending on the variety.

Peewee, I got Kuro Shinjyu from Orchids Limited (orchidweb.com). Online catalog is not up to date but they just got a shipment in from Japan this week so you can call to inquire.

Craig, I don't use my humidifier anymore so my RH never gets above 50% during the day. Most days it's 40's. In the winter it's even lower. I don't let the moss mounds dry out during the growing season, only during the winter rest period.
