Default Neo 'Orihime'

Neofinetia falcata 'Orihime' (Princess of Vega) is a green stem (Ao jiku), green root (Ao ne), shima (distinct bands/ stripes) variegated variety. Junction where stem meets leaf is tsuke gata or crescent moon shaped. Roots emerge green and stay green. It is considered "woman's fuukiran" because of the elegant hime-ba leaf shape (princess leaf - slightly curved, downward arching). Flowers are standard shaped with the typical neo fragrance. This variety originated in Japan and has been around for 50 some years according to book sources.

Tracy, it is pretty. Thank you for sharing.

The more I get to know the NEOs, the more I get facinated with those names. "Orihime" came after a girl who was in one of those old Japanese fairly tales.

Very nice! Did you flower it your self, or buy it in spike?
If you did flower it, where do you grow them at? Greenhouse, window, etc? How many foot candles?

Gorgeous!! I think Shannan would really like it, unless she already has one! And I want one. I love these little neos, they are so easy to grow. I think I have a spike starting on one of mine.

I think she does. In fact I like the variegation on hers a bit more than mine.

This one I got last December from Jason. I'm pretty sure it came with the nubbin that ended up being a spike. So, no, I don't think I bloomed this one.

I have 10 others that are in spike or in bud right now. These ones I've had for a year and can actually say "I bloomed this on my own". All these spikes were set early last Fall after they finished summer blooming. They just stalled till Spring and started taking off again. All mine are grown under T5's. They get the highest light possible short of burning. My digital lux meter reads 1150 fc, lights on for 11 hours. Don't know if my meter tells the truth so I go by how much purple I get on the leaves. The spikes didn't really move until temps got above 70F during the day though while lights are on. So I'm going to try 850 - 900 fc over 14 hours to increase the amount of time that day temps are above 70F. I also adjust light, water and temps in winter to provide the winter rest. I'm guessing if yours aren't blooming but have flawless leaves, they're probably not getting enough light.
