Default Tiger striped Neofinetia (Tora-fu)

I thought I would try to make a list of some of the different types of Neos. This one is for the tiger striped leaves with stripes running across the leaves, or sections of the leaves having a contrasting colour.

(Photos to follow! And I will add in links to individual posts about these plants as they are created.)

Kinboshi - Golden yellow leaves.

Kinrokaku
- Tiger stripe with golden yellow markings.

Kisyu Sekko
- Leaves green with lime green markings.

Kogane Nishiki
- Golden yellow leaves.

Hakuun
- Distinct golden markings.

Hangoromo
- Yellow leaves.

Setsuzan (means Snow Mountain) - Distinct pale sectional stripes across leaves.
More info: Neo. 'setsuzan' - Warning : Image Heavy

You should make a new thread for Kinboshi... I can add it to the list and put in a link to your thread!

Thanks for mentioning it!

Yes, do! Add a new thread but use this format for your post:

Neofinetia falcata Shutenno (Red Emperor)
New World Orchids
  • Leaf: (standard green blades) Furan.
  • Jiku: V-shaped.
  • Blooms: White flowers with cherry pink tips, spurs & peduncle.
  • Roots Tips: Transparent plum hue.
  • Distinguishing feature: Lovely flower color, pink! Spurs cherry pink with green tips!
  • Fragrance: Vanilla with a hint of honeysuckle.
  • Alternate spellings: Shu Ten Nou, Syutenno,
Best Culture Tips: From Bailey, CO
  • Grown in an enclosed grow rack with T5 lighting. (medium light)
  • Humidity: 60%
  • Temp: High 80, Low 66 (Intermediate)
  • Really good air circulation
  • RO water

Try to get four pictures if at all possible!

Thanks MissCat! The karanishiki is a bit tricky to grow for the markings... But if done correctly, it has beautiful tigering and puts on quite a show!

I will take a few more pics the next few days and post them, esp of the yellow tigers!

Now I wish I could acquire Byakko. I have all of the other plants in this set. Very lovely indeed!
