I checkout out the Juliana grow rack, Gwen. It's about 27 inches wide right? So does that mean your T5's are only the 24/26 watt tubes? Is it a bank of 4?

Yep, I have the little short T5's only two at the top. . .two feet long. I got them at a hydroponic store.

My husband built a little mount so the two T5's are at the top in the arched section.

The next shelf down has no lights. . .I've got orchids on that shelf that need the highest humidity and low light.

The on the shelf below that I've got a regular HD grow two light fixture. . .I'll change that one out to two more T5's soon, though.

Thanks for the info. I looked it up and believe it is the answer to my humidity problem with my neos and neo crosses. Can you explain how your husband built the frame for the lights? I will have to do it myself so I hope it isn't too complicated.
It may be a real challange trying to find a place for it. Sometimes I wish I were in a house instead of a small condo. I have thought maybe I should sell my bed and grow orchids in that room ..........talk about orchiditis

Do you have something on the bottom to catch the run-off when you water?

Just bumping this thread up for the newer neo fans because I think this has the most photos in it. For those of you who haven't seen this yet, just page through and check out Shannan's fabulous pics! For those of us who have seen this thread already, it gives us a nice reminder of what we can look forward to next spring/summer, right? This thread is probably the reason the Neofinetia forum was started. Thanks Shannan, for all your cool pics!! And to everyone else who contributed photos as well!

The pictures are absolutely beautiful. I really want one, or two etc. etc. etc. I haven't followed this thread all the way thru but are "they" planted in another pot then placed inside these georgous deep pots or are they grown directly in them? How do you keep the spag. piled so high and so neatly? Are just the roots in the spag. keeping they on the hill top so as to speak? Thanks for the pics., really, really, enjoyed. Don

Thanks, Tracy, for reminding us all what we have to look forward to in a few months time! It wasn't just me contributing great photos, though!! It is great to see so many plants all in one place.

Don, most of my plants are not potted in the 'traditional' way (with the moss mound). Mine are in moss in ceramic pots made for us by a potter who specialised in bonsai pots (until Gwen talked him into making pots specially for the orchids as well!). You can see them at Erin Bonsai Online. They are in the UK.

Tracy has her's potted in the traditional manner with the moss mound. Sculpting the moss mound is an art in itself! The roots of the plant are ideally surrounded by one layer of moss over the top, and one layer of moss underneath, with an open space through the middle of the pot so that air circulation is good. With so much moss 'on top' of the pot, you get a lot of nice air circulation all around.
