Default Lost the second bloom

If anyone has any idea why this Agreacum will not bloom. I have it in bark and spong rock. It grows well as far as leaves go, but have lost two buds in 3 months. I have it on my lanai in shade. I do put it out sometimes in the morning for sun, I also have mist it everyday. Since buying this probably 2 years ago I have not been able to get it to bloom. Change my fert program and I did get results with getting a bud but that it all.

Are you getting the buds wet with your misting? Slugs?

Yes, the buds have gotten wet with the mist. I have seen no signs of slugs ( trails, holes)Maybe I am not keeping the plant damp enough, I have read in the wild that Agreacums grow where they get water on a regular basis. Is this true?

There was once a website, The Angraecum Encyclopedia, which gave information on where each one grew and how to care for them. It was the greatest resource on Angraecums ever out there. It is gone, unfortunately.

Angraecum sesquipedale grows in the hot, humid coastal wetland area of Madagascar either on trees or rocks and gets either very high light or full sun, if I remember correctly, and receives plenty of rainfall, year-round. I read, too, that, despite the different climates on Madagascar, most of the island is very breezy. So, if the leaves and buds get wet, it quickly dries.
I hope this helps. I had a seedling for seven years but the dog shredded it. This spring I finally got around to replacing it with a poor rootless thing that has been recovering nicely this summer. Your sesquipedale looks very healthy!

I haven't grown or bloomed sesquipedale, but keeping good air movement is probably a good idea, as per leafmite's suggestions. Try not to mist the buds as they develop.

I find that many angraecum / aerangis are very sensitive to being moved while spiking and budding. Perhaps when the next buds begin to form try leaving the plant in the same spot until the bud matures and opens.

I have not noted sensitivity with this species being moved, but I do not get to move them very often as they are quite large and usually stuck to their nearest neighbor(s).
