Angraecum didieri
Second bloom for this one, and I'm really happy with it; both size and form are a big improvement over last year. It's growing in a 2" net pot with just a couple of pieces of bark, 50% humidity. Thanks for looking!  |

Congratulations! It's beautiful!
50% humidity? I had heard so many stories of Angraecoids like these needing really high humidity I had given up hope! 50% is easy for me! Thanks for sharing your experience!

Well... as a disclaimer, it seems to be working for me. That doesn't mean it would work equally well for everyone. I think the higher you can get the humidity, the better - and I'm sure mine would do even better if I could raise it a bit. |

Total plant height is about five inches, with the roots extending another five inches in the other direction out of all sides of the net pot. This species likes to put out lots of long, fleshy roots. For me it has only bloomed once before (its first bloom), but it produced buds sequentially over nearly two months.

Yep - a scent like gardenias, but only at night. A couple of nights I could smell it from the next room. |

I bought one last year and it is putting out new roots, finally. It's mounted on cork bark. I have it directly over the ultrasonic humidifier.
I also have an Ang distichum which is just sitting there for 10 months and is probably dying. I have major humidity problems but have bloomed phals, dens, catts phrags and paphs all from more established plants.
Humidity problems in that my growing situation is too dry.
