Angraecum sesquipedale air roots
Default Angraecum sesquipedale air roots

I have two new A. Sesquipedale plants with large aerial roots and many coil inside the pot, 4" plastic/ large bark.
I wish to transit them to Clay pot with lecca. That has work for me for other Angraecum and aerides.
My question 1: do I attempt to place aerial roots inside the pot?
I have a third plant A. Sesqui... in a 6" woobasket with bark and although it flower once and is alive and growing the roots look dry. It has not grown a new root for several years.
Question 2: how can I improve the plant in wood basket?
All 3 kept in a greenhouse with good humidity, very hot in summer.

I think your plan for the "wild roots" plants is good. If you soak the roots well before repotting they may become more flexible such that you can gently work them into the larger pot (twist the plant as you're placing it into the pot to encourage the roots to wind around.) However, if they resist, don't force them... these are certainly happy with air roots. The one in the basket may be staying too dry - perhaps the same treatment (clay pot + LECA) will work for that one too.

The plant in the basket probably has few or no roots in the medium. It will grow better when the roots get more water.
