Black spots on my Aerangis articulata leaves
Default Black spots on my Aerangis articulata leaves

I have had this aerangis articulata for over a year and when I went on holidays for two weeks I had my mother take care of my orchids but she did not water well causing many orchids to become severely dehydrated and when I saw my articulata I thought it was a goner as it had spots on the leaves, everything was bone dry and the roots were shriveled. It has been a while since my holiday and it is now growing well but the spots keep growing on the new leaves, the spots should normally not appear on the new leaves but they keep coming. The picture with the leaf with smaller and less spots is the new leaf and the picture of the leaf With larger and more spots is the leaf that was originally infected

Is it very humid there? If so, it might be fungus. Contact a local agricultural office or university, and take them a piece of leaf. They may be able to identify the culprit.

Make certain that this is getting a little extra Calcium. Orchids that come from places that are breezy often are more prone to fungus issues and Calcium seems to help prevent these issues. The Calcium will not help what has already grown but it will help the new growth. I also agree that if you can get this identified, it might be helpful to finding a solution. Good luck!

This might help you get started:

J-X ... have you got some gentle air-movement in the growing area to keep the leaves fairly dry?

Thanks J-X. That's pretty good actually. Also ----- are those bumps dried up? Are they very hard? If dry and hard ----- then that is probably much better than soft.

The ones on the older leaves are dry and hard but the ones on the newer leaves are soft I think

Maybe one thing to try is to isolate one of those plants - put it somewhere else - far away from all the others, and then assume bacterial ------ and use copper spray for plants (eg. yates liquid copper) --- spraying all over the leaves and stem.
