Default Amesiella (Angraecum) monticola in bloom!

This just opened yesterday and I am sooo happy! This is my first time blooming this. I purchased it from Andy's Orchids when I got the Quickie Project Plant #1 in October or November of last year. I can proudly say I can take full credit for this bloom! At first I thought the spike was going to be a new growth when it first started...I am sure glad I was wrong! And maybe someday I will have a camera that will take decent pictures and a photo editing program that I can fix the pictures with....I tried with what I have! I have to say....this is one of my favorites....it is such a beauty! I just love it!

Enjoy!

I'm not surprised you love it, Becca. Me too! What a lovely little flower and such a beautiful sparkle to the petals.

I also bought mine from Andys orchids at the NY show 2 years ago,and it flowered well the first year.
This year the bud became dinner to a snail #@*&^%*.
I think I found the culprit, lets see if I'm right.
I'm curious, how do you grow yours?
I grow mine under a two bulb fluorescent at cool/int.temps.

I grow mine in intermediate temps (lows at night in the low 60's and high's so far in the mid 70's during the day), I think those are intermediate temps....lol. I grow it in my orchidarium which has a humidity of about 70% and the orchidarium has 3 biaxe flourescent lights....I think I have it about two feet away from the lights....but I would have to measure that, I could be off on that estimate.....

Nice bloom!! I really like how these guys have such a sparkly, crystaline quality to the flowers. Not to mention the fact that the flowers are almost bigger than the plants!! Good growing!!
