Moss suggestions

I need some help ... looking for some kinds of moss that will adhere to my driftwood and maybe even foam background, and actually grow. Can't seem to find anything that will grow other than on ground, though I did see one that said will creep over gravel.

Also - for light: I have a 12x12x18 Exo with an Exo canopy, and a 26w Tropical Coil bulb in it. Temps stay just under 80, humidity upwards of that. Is this too much light? Only have about 4 plants in there at present, though that is changing very soon.

If you can keep it moist enough, traditionally aquatic mosses can will grow out of water. They are also fairly inexpensive, so if it didn't work you wouldn't be out much.

The two I would look at are Java and Christmas mosses. I grow java moss attached to driftwood underwater, I think it would do the same above water.

And alternative I have heard is to blend up a bunch of moss and press it into crevices and other areas you want it. It may take a while to grow in, but might look more natural.

Check Neherpetoculture, they have moss. I used their terrarium moss in my Exo Terra and is grows great. They also sell the slurry. The terrarium moss comes in a ziplock bag as a one piece pad of preprocessed moss. You just tear or cut the moss to fit the area you want it planted in. It grows pretty much wherever you put it, just keep it moist. I don't think it would survive close to your lights but it will grow on the background as well as on decor in your tank.

I'm happy with the moss, it doesn't take long for it to acclimate and grow.

As far as your light, I have the same size tank with two Exo Terra lights, 26 w daylight Exo Terra bulbs. I don't always have both bulbs on, the one in the back is on later in the day and off earlier in the evening. The temp runs 85 and 90 with both lights on so I leave one off part of the time to lower the temp. Humidity stays near 80%, I also leave the doors open a crack sometimes.

I tried one light, it didn't cover well enough with the large stump in the center of my tank. You may be alright with just the one.

If you go to bonsai sites you may find moss spores for sale. Just sprinkle them on the surface and keep moist.
