I don't know what T5 you are thinking of getting, but I recommend you get some reflective material (like mylar) to put behind the fixture, it make a huge difference in terms of light reaching the orchids!

Ok guys, so I have my orchidarium (2 actually) set up with everything pretty much done except for the misting system and the lid on top. I will be getting a Mistking system, but am not sure what the lid needs to be like in order to facilitate the Mistking. Essentially I want a pane of glass that is not quite long enough to fully fit across the top of the tank. That way, there will be a strip of air (ie. no glass) on either side of the tank that will be about an inch deep. Or I might have a strip of no glass (just air) running the length of the tank along the front pane. I'm not sure on these details yet. Is this enough to make the misting system work? Does the Mistking need any bulkheads or anything drilled into the glass? Does it have clamps or hooks that need to be free of lid interference?

It is difficult to install the misting system through a glass panel, as the nozzles come with a bulkhead which is a very unusual dimension, it is almost impossible to find a diamond drill bit that size (9/16").
They sell a screen top wedge to install the nozzle easily on a corner, but you won't get a good mist everywhere in your tank if the nozzles are only in the corners.

I tied my nozzles to a bamboo stick that goes above the tank, that way I could put the nozzles exactly where I wanted. The bamboo stick is secured to the tank so it doesn't shakes when the spraying occurs (source of noise).
